Yellow Mountain

21 April 2015

Hiking through Yellow Mountain, I felt like I was wandering through a different world. Yellow Mountain is awesome!

Back Alley Brawl

5 November 2014

A maze of small alleys, stairs leading to higher houses, laundry hung from house to house. A different world, so beautiful.

Shanghai’s old houses

29 October 2014

The authentic old houses create a more beautiful China for me than the monstrosities of modernism.

A new highway

30 July 2013

I was driving around Binhu on my motorbike. Binhu is a quite new area in Hefei and they are developing a huge number of new roads there. This results in empty crossroads with traffic lights but where the crossing road ends up in some undeveloped, rural grassland (where lateron new residential areas will be build).

Their blind spot

Their blind spot

30 July 2013

I was walking down the street and suddenly my attention was drawn to the way they laid down the path for the blind… Let’s just say: they try their best.

Loading the bricks

Demolishing the wall

30 July 2013

A while ago they were demolishing the old wall of the apartment block I’m living in. To my surprise an old lady came by and started cleaning all the bricks from the mortar and separating them from the chunks of debris.

The dentist

The dentist…

13 July 2013

Today I went to the dentist, for a change. A regular check-up and because my girlfriend needed a rotten tooth to be pulled. The whole gig didn’t cost more than 12 Euros.

Hefei, tremendously developing

Debris and empty spots

28 April 2013

There are so many spots covered with debris or just cleared for building new stuff in Hefei.

Swan Lake

Swan lake

28 April 2013

Swan lake in Hefei is one of the many scenic areas this developing city has. Man-made, just to beautify the place. Surrounded by modern high-rises and shoppingmalls, it has a nice park area to picnic or just walk around. There seems to be a beach area and the possibility to ride small boats.

Hefei powerplant

Hefei industrial area

24 April 2013

Driving around on my new bought scooter bike, I discovered some prime development land in Hefei. Google maps drew my curiosity when I saw a small river running to a big lake up north…

On buses, trains, streets and SMOG…

9 April 2013

Here then, a little on buses, trains, streets and SMOG. Everyday I take the bus to my work. And I like it, because the bus-driver knows his route and it is just 1 yuan. And… he never stops for anything…

Winter in Hefei

Winter’s last day

27 February 2013

Winter struck its final blow on us a couple of days ago. Now spring is arriving fast and the air is warming up again. I thought I had escaped the snow leaving Poland, but no. One final pack of snow and winter’s days are over.

terracotta warriors and horses

Qin’s terracotta warriors and horses

18 February 2013

One of the things you must have seen. Immense, huge and megalomaniacal… It is the army of emperor Qin Shi Huang to protect him in the afterlife. The army was created around 300 BC. Some farmers accidentally discovered the army in 1974 when they tried to dig a water well.

Xi'an Bell Tower

Xi’an – 西安

14 February 2013

The city Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi province in the People’s Republic of China. With more than 3000 years of history, it is one of the oldest cities in China. It is the home of the Emperor Qin’s terracotta army and the eastern terminus of the Silk Road.

Strawberry jam

A completely different world

7 February 2013

When I just arrived in China, I had the feeling of arriving on another planet… A totally different world. Like I had arrived in some sort of computer game: hauling taxi’s all the time, eating out all the time, being totally different in appearance and look. Everybody staring at you, wanting to take a picture with you. An attraction.

Food street, Hefei

Traveling the world, developing yourself

21 January 2013

I changed my mind and seized the freedom that lay before my feet.
